Elementary Anecdotes in American English is the first in a series of three new readers by L.A. Hill. Amusing and anecdotal in content, these high-interest, controlled vocabulary books for classroom or individual use will appeal to a broad range of English as a Second Language students, from young adult to adult.

Each book contains thirty illustrated anecdotes. Each anecdote, approxi-mately 150 words long, is accompanied by exercises for comprehension and vocabulary development. An appendix in each book lists all vocabulary items included in the text.
